Definition of pattern and structure

Pattern and structure are the essential building blocks we use to assign meaning. The physical and mental connections they establish are those that allow us to find comparisons and contrasts, yielding sophisticated networks of association.

It is important to stress that both pattern and structure do not create meaning themselves, they merely help us apply our interpretive meanings to forms or ideas.
